The Coast Route "Nilsen Alternate" - Less traffic, fewer hills. A little longer distance.
The Coast Route - Uses the Longview cutoff, avoiding Portland traffic; this is the "traditional"
route. Takes you through Seaside, and the hills and curves between Cannon Beach and Manzanita.
Tony Perman says the view is worth it, though.
The Country Road Route - Also uses the Longview cutoff, but avoids Astoria & Seaside;
however several of the roads are very curvy. Google says this is the fastest - maybe it is. We run
these roads for Hood-to-Coast, and there are a couple spots that are "interesting" with a trailer.
The "No Traffic in Portland Route" - This is the route the Oregon racers take, as
Highway 6 is to 101 is the faster route from the Portland Metro area. This is the way to go if you
have to come through Portland - unless it's rush hour. Then, no way is fast.
From the South - This route takes you through Salem, back to 101 through Tillamook.
